27 Dec ~ All of us woke up early in the morning (err.. not that early ~ around 7:30am) and had some simple breakfast @ home before we start our journey. Of course, ChenHoong departure from Seremban even earlier ~ 7:30am. We started our journey from SS2 @ 9:00am headed to  Ipoh. We arrived Ipoh around 11:30am & met up with Ah Fai somewhere near the Ipoh Toll.

Based on the plan for the day, we will be going to our first stop – 忠记 for lunch. hehe.. we were fortunate to have a tour guide that brought us to this hawker center because the location is actually quite hard to find if you are not locals.

忠记 is famous with their laksa (RM 2.40) , curry mee(RM1.20) as well as deep fried snacks(RM0.50 each item). The food was good and unbelievably cheap too.

I wanted to eat Hong Kee Mah chee (芳记麻芝) which is one of the MUST EAT food in my check list as well. But, unfortunately, it was closed that day. So, we headed to the famous Kaya Puff in town ~ Sin Eng Heong.

Actually we just stopped by to make booking for the Kaya Puff & of course we never forget the soya bean milk & Fantastic Tau Fu Fah @ Funny Fountain Soya Bean which is a few mins walk from Sin Eng Heong. The best tau fu fah I ever had out of all I’ve tasted across Malaysia. They do provide drive through service for take aways. The Soya bean milk is a little bit too sweet for me. hehe… We bought 4 small bottles of soya bean milk & 2 box of Tau Fu Fah which cost RM10.2. So, I guess the price for 1 bottle of soya bean milk is about RM1.50 & Tau Fu Fah cost RM2.10

Then, we headed to Menglembu where our hostel situated. hehe… its a house actually which cost us RM250 per night with 4 rooms available. worth it right?

We continue our journey after a short break, around 2pm headed to Gua Perak which is about 15 mins drive from Menglembu.

It rained quite heavily the time we wanted to leave Gua Perak. However, we still managed to catch up 3:30pm tea break @ Nam Heong Old Town White Coffee to sample the most original White Coffee in Malaysia.

The coffee shop sells quite a lot of hawker food. There are Penang prawn mee, dim sum, curry laksa, Fried Kueh Tiaw and some other stuff.

A cup of hot white coffee costs RM1.20. Very aromatic and tasty compared to other normal coffees. Iced white coffee costs a little more at RM1.50.

Of course, we tried the Cha Siew Puff(叉烧酥) & Fried Kueh Tiaw here. Tasted good.

We headed home after tea break. After rest for around 2 hours, we went to Ipoh town for our dinner ~ Lou Wong Tauge Ayam Kuetiaw (老黄芽菜鸡沙河粉). I thought we were early, but the time we reached there is already full of people.

As we sit near to this place, we realize they put the chicken in the boiling water as the first step. After that deep chicken in to cool water and then ice water. hehe.. don’t ask me why, I don’t know why.

We ordered 1 whole bird boil chicken, 1 Bean Sprout (big), Meatball Soup(big), 4 kuehtiaw & 2 rice which cost us total of RM59.20.

Next, Ah Fai brought us to Jusco for a short walk. Well, my makan-makan trip plan goes until supper time. Thus, we headed to 南国小食 for seafood supper. But, unfortunately, the crab was sold out (this place is actually famous for its crab). So, we headed to another place for our supper after some drink as we ordered the drinks before we realized the food was sold out.

We ordered a plate of crab, lala & oyster which cost us total of RM80.Yummy yummy. Err.. the photographer is too hungry I think, that’s why forgot to take photo for the Oyster. haha

So, the next morning, we went for dim sum @ Ming Court (明阁香港点心）. Wow… so many people, we waited for about 10 mins for the seat. Anyway, its worth, the food is really nice. . hehe… This shop is actually recommended by Ah Xian. Ah Fai only reached after a round of dim sum as he went to Hong Kee to get the famous egg tart for us.  (If you wish to grab the egg tart, please make sure you go early as the tarts usually sold out by 10am.) Of course, he got us Ipoh best Salted Chicken from Aun Kheng Lim Salted Chicken(盐炬鸡) as well.

This dim sum breakfast only cost us RM104.90.

After dim sum, we went Sin Eng Heong to get kaya puff that we have booked the day before. But, the kaya puff is not ready yet. Thus, we headed to Yee Hup(Hiong Piah) to grab Ipoh souvenir.

Based on our initial plan, we suppose to leave Ipoh after souvenir time, however, in order to wait for the kaya puff, we headed to Sam Poh Tong while Ah Fai back to Sin Eng Heong to grab Kaya Puff for us. hehe.. this give me the chance to visit Sam Poh Tong. Not Bad. Feel so sorry for Ah Fai as he need to help us rush here & there to grab the nice food for us.

We end the Ipoh trip @ Hentian Limau Tambun. Of course, we bought some Pamelo here which cost RM13 each.

On the way to KL from Ipoh, we stopped by  @ Hot Springs Park Sungai Klah. We reached here around 2pm & had picnic here as well. Ops, nearly forget, we stopped by @ Tapah to grab some Guava as well.

As today is UTP Family Day,the park is really full of people. But, we managed to get a good place for picnic as well. Thank God.. Here we enjoyed our salted chicken, kaya puff & egg tart.

Some comments to share here ~ Ipoh best salted chicken. The chicken are slightly smaller in size due to it is “Kampung” breed. It has less fat compared to normal chickens which sold in the wet market. It is cooked by seasoning the chicken with chinese herbs and buried under salts to cook it. My Favourite Egg Tart ~ I was impressed with the texture of the crust, it doesn’t crumble and break when you bite it and the yellowish egg custard was just nice, not overly sweet, with sufficient eggy aroma. Kaya Puff (加央角) ~ the puff may look mini, but in fact packed with flavours from the awesome kaya fillings, and the flaky, crispy-when-hot pastry. Smooth and very fragrant indeed… Yoh.. I miss the food.

Here we end our 2 days 1 night Ipoh trip. We got home around 4:30pm. Nice Trip.
